Librarian - LAC Group

Location: USA - DC - Washington DC

LAC Group is seeking an experienced Librarian to work on-site for a major federal agency in the Washington DC area. The selected individual will assist in the management of digital collections, reference support and metadata creation. This is a one-year full-time (40 hours a week; Monday to Friday) benefited contract position with option to extend.

Responsibilities:
  • Metadata Creation for various material types
  • Upgrade Bibliographic records as needed
  • Create locally defined index terms for descriptive metadata and create metadata using these terms
  • Create metadata records for materials according to RDA and/or AACR2 rules, use MARC21 format standards, utilize LC subject headings and LC or SuDocs Classification,
  • Load existing or new records on appropriate local library databases
  • Create and maintain virtual libraries and websites; this includes content management, maintaining the websites and theme pages, and creating research guides
  • Provide scheduled analytic reports and ad hoc reports as requested
  • Provide reference support as needed
  • Provide on site patron assistance
  • Provide on site training and assistance to library patrons on library equipment.
  • Coordinate project plans as needed with Library staff
  • Screen in coming reference calls and provide accurate responses to simple, readily available information.
  • Other projects as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Master’s of Library Science
  • Two years experience performing similar tasks in a library
  • Knowledge of digital curation lifecycle and management
  • Experience with digital repositories and metadata standards
  • Experience with a programming language preferred
  • Experience with web development
