Legal Cataloger (Virtual)
Location: USA - Virtual - Remote
LAC Group seeks a Legal Cataloger (Virtual) for a part-time, 8-10 hours per week, position of indefinite duration for a highly-regarded law firm located in New York City, NY with other offices worldwide. This position assumes responsibility of system administration for cataloging services at in which the selected candidate would utilize the firm’s current integrated library system (ILS), SydneyPlus law library cataloging remotely. This position can be worked from any location in the US, with a short, 2-day, initial site-visit to NYC for orientation and to create a workflow assessment. We are looking for a highly-skilled cataloger to start on this assignment immediately!Responsibilities:
- Perform original and complex copy cataloging and classification of resources in all formats;
- Resolve cataloging and classification problems;
- Manage the library's use of cooperative cataloging databases such as OCLC, merging and consolidating records as necessary;
- Coordinate daily cataloging workflows to ensure timely processing of resources;
- Maintain the integrity of the work product of the cataloging department;
- Compile, analyze, and submit cataloging statistics retrieved from the ILS on a regular basis.
- MLS with graduate level courses in cataloging required;
- 3+ years of cataloging experience in an academic, public, or law library using an ILS, preferably SydneyPlus;
- Working knowledge of library databases, OCLC, AACR2, LC Classification;
- Knowledge and experience of RDA is a plus;
- Working knowledge of bibliographic databases and Microsoft Office;
- Accuracy, focus, and attention to detail;
- Ability to work successfully independently;
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
