Law Library Assistant - LAC Group

Location: USA - OH - Cleveland

LAC Group seeks a Library Assistant in Cleveland to provide support services to our clients’ law firm libraries. The Library Assistant will be responsible for loose leaf filing as well as assisting with collection management, cataloging and inter-library loans. This is a full-time, benefited, hybrid (remote + onsite) position that is a great opportunity for a recent MLIS graduate or junior level librarian who is interested in starting a career in law librarianship.

  • Provide library support services; log receipt of material into the library catalog, process new acquisitions, process returns, assist with orders, renewals, and cancellations; work with vendors
  • Assist with library expenditure processes, including coding vendor invoices for print and online purchases
  • Assist attorneys in locating local print and electronic holdings
  • Assist with the management of the local library collections; organize and file all loose-leaf supplements, updates, pocket parts, and periodicals
  • Assist with library collection management and development
  • Assist with cataloging
  • Assist with interlibrary loans
  • Perform related tasks as assigned and participate in special projects as requested
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required. MLIS degree (in progress or completed) is preferred
  • At least 1 year of library experience performing required duties. Experience in a law library environment (university, county, or law firm) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with legal publications is required
  • Working knowledge of EOS, SydneyPlus, or other Library Management System
  • Must have an excellent work ethic and exceptional attention to detail
  • A professional attitude and good customer service skills are necessary
  • Self-starter and the ability to work independently
