Digital Librarian - LAC Group

Location: USA - MD - Beltsville

LAC Group is seeking a Digital Librarian for a temporary position supporting a large federal library in Beltsville, MD providing digitization and digital asset curation. The Librarian will be responsible for creating a digital exhibit highlighting special collections, including selection and digitization of appropriate items. This is a full-time, on-site, benefited position expected to continue for approximately 4 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research and support the creation of a digital exhibit highlighting Library materials, including selection and digitization of appropriate items.
• Assist in writing web content, including updating and creating pathfinders.
• Plan, research, and write a script/storyboard for a brief online video highlighting partner tools and projects.
• Support the web archiving project.
• Prepare monthly project status reports on all ongoing projects

QUALIFICATIONS

• MLS from an ALA-accredited institution.
• 2-3 years prior experience with digitization projects, including direct experience preparing materials for scanning, operating a scanner/camera, applying metadata and digitization standards, and performing post-processing and quality control, in a library or archives setting.
• Must have experience with historical agricultural documents and knowledge of historical and archival research methods.
• Preferred: knowledge of web archiving; subject matter knowledge of history, legal materials or government documents; basic knowledge of agricultural research
