Administrative Support Specialist - LAC Group

Location: USA - MD - Bethesda

LAC Group is seeking Administrative Support Specialists to support a federal library in the Bethesda, MD area. Specialists are needed to support a variety of tasks and individual responsibilities may vary slightly. This is a long term, full time (40 hour a week; Monday to Friday) benefited position.

  • Receives and processes approximately 50-75 requests per month from researchers/patrons for translations of scholarly materials
  • Prepares translation requests packages for submission to in-house or third-party translation vendors
  • Review returned translations packages for completeness, accuracy
  • Compiles monthly statistical reports
  • Adheres to ASTM F2575-14: Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation andISO 17100: Translation Services Requirements for Translations Services
  • Verifies accuracy of invoices for translation vendors
  • May also support general library duties including interlibrary loan, check-in, circulation, ready reference, and copy cataloging
  • May assist with routine collection maintenance activities

  • Associate's Degree from a recognized college or technical institute
  • 2 years of relevant library experience
  • Must be able to distinguish and identify a variety of foreign languages; Multiple foreign language proficiency/fluency preferred; Spanish highly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel
  • Has knowledge of library techniques, systems, and procedures
  • Some knowledge of sources of reference on bibliographical material
  • Ability to use and explain the library facilities, including catalogs and other reference aids
  • Ability to deal effectively with volunteers and non-professional staff in instructing them in the use of the library
  • Ability to present ideas effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel of the institution
