Access and Lending Services Supervisor, Cornell Library

Cornell Library's Access and Lending Services Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the science library and ensures patron access to library collections, services and facilities. Primary duties include but are not limited to: Providing excellent customer service in responding to requests and informational queries; Training and supervision of 25+ student workers who provide front-line support; Overseeing Cornell's reserves service and collections; Managing Cornell patron's fines and billing. The supervisor also contributes to the development of policies and services, participates in library, college, and/or Tri-Co committees or projects as needed and based upon skills or interests, and performs other duties as assigned. In the absence of the Science Librarian, the specialist is responsible for the management of all functions in Cornell Library.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; 1-2 years of experience in a service organization, preferably in a position that routinely interacts with clients.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with library organization and services.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Macintosh and/or Windows environments and basic applications software including word processing, email, and Web browsers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory or related experience.
  • Experience with using integrated library systems and/or experience with using other database management software.
