University Librarian (virtual/remote) - LAC Group

Location: USA - Virtual - Remote

LAC Group seeks a University Librarian (virtual/remote) for an accredited, non-profit blended learning university. The position will be responsible for engaging in comprehensive library services for the physical campuses. The Remote Librarian will be responsible for communicating and assisting staff, faculty and students, preparing guides, bibliographies and tutorials for instruction, development and maintenance of the library web pages, lib guides, video tutorial repository as well as participating in outreach efforts to promote instruction and reference. This is a full-time, benefited, remote position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide exceptional student services through individual and group research consultations for students.
  • Development and facilitation of whole class trainings/sessions to support library services each term. Annually, develop and present at program orientations as new cohorts start their coursework.
  • Communicate with faculty/adjuncts teaching courses that are research based. Provide accurate library description for catalog annually.
  • Supervise the part-time Research Specialists using appropriate collaboration tools. Review survey data on student feedback for the team and in collaboration with the Head Librarian, create continuous improvement plans.
  • Create and maintain LibGuides and instructional resources as required for students across the university in collaboration with the Media Team.
  • Review and approve dissertation library submissions.
  • Verify student and faculty status to ensure continues access to university users.
  • Under the direction of the Head Librarian, review and maintain up to date data on usage of data bases and resources in order to inform future subscriptions.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
QUALIFACTIONS:
  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in Library Services, Reference and Library Instruction in a university/college environment (or similar). Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Functional experience with Aleph and/or ALMA ILSs and EBSCO Discovery Services and/or Primo VE
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Blackboard).
  • Demonstrated experience with collection development, electronic information resources, accessibility guidelines, and implementation in an online library.
  • Ability to offer instruction online in a distributed system.
