Tenure-Track Librarian - California State University Stanislaus

Location: USA - CA - Stockton

The California State University, Stanislaus Library is seeking an energetic, innovative, service-oriented and collaborative professional to deliver outstanding library services as Tenure-Track Librarian at CSU Stanislaus’ remote campus located in Stockton, CA. The new librarian will join the library faculty and play a key role in redesigning services at the Stockton Library Access Center. Stockton campus development is one of the main focuses identified in the University’s 2017-2025 Strategic Plan. Plans towards building a new student services facility at the campus are currently underway. The librarian will have the opportunity to participate in campus development projects and work closely with Stockton-based programs and faculty to re-conceptualize the physical library and its services and resources. The successful candidate will be a developer and communicator who works effectively in a team-based environment and with a flexible work schedule.

This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position under the direction of the Dean of Library Services. The Stockton librarian is expected to be at the Turlock campus at least once a week to foster integrated service. At the Stockton Campus, the librarian will work independently to manage all aspects of library collections and services to meet the needs of faculty and students in Stockton.

The library faculty plays a crucial role in student success and contributes to the University Library’s mission – to provide access to information resources and services that facilitate teaching, learning and research, and to provide an environment that encourages and enables those in our diverse community to expand their intellectual, cultural and artistic horizons. The Stockton Librarian will have exciting opportunities to develop and innovate the library services at a growing campus.

Faculty librarians serve as liaisons to academic departments for collection development and library outreach, and participate in library and University faculty governance. The Stockton Librarian will be the key onsite representative for library affairs at Stockton staff and faculty meetings. In order to earn tenure and promotion, library faculty must demonstrate proficiency in the areas of librarianship; research, scholarship and/or creative activities; and participation in University affairs.
