System Libraries Resource Development Director - Texas A&M University

Texas A&M University Libraries seeks a creative and dynamic professional to join the Texas A&M University Libraries as System Libraries Resource Development Director. We are hiring one individual for a full-time position with an 11-month academic appointment beginning by January 2020. This is a non-tenure track faculty position with professional service expectations. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor depending on qualifications.
Reporting to the Dean of the Texas A&M University Libraries through the Associate Dean for Information Resources, the System Libraries Resource Development Director will provide innovative leadership for the Texas A&M University System Library Consortium. In consultation with the Consortium, Contracts Administration, and the Office of General Counsel, the System Libraries Resource Development Director reviews and negotiates digital resources licenses to ensure compliance with established federal and state guidelines, including copyright and accessibility guidelines. Responsibilities include negotiating with vendors, establishing and maintaining effective vendor relations, maintaining an Electronic Resource Management System for cooperative agreements, and managing the setup and maintenance of access records for existing and new cooperative agreements in the ERM. The person in this position is a member of the TAMU Libraries' Electronic Resources Licensing Team. The position also prepares official reports for the TAMU System Library Consortium.
The successful candidate will also undertake several new initiatives on behalf of the Consortium. The position will coordinate with the administration of the new RELLIS campus to enable the Consortium members provide services to their RELLIS students. The position will also identify new areas of closer cooperation among the member libraries, such as professional development training for the librarians and staff of member libraries. The person also actively seeks out quality open access academic publications and open electronic resources suitable for classroom use for the Consortium libraries and the College Station campus.
Non-tenure track responsibilities include engaging in professional service at multiple levels with demonstrated national impact.

- Master’s Degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution (or international equivalent)
- Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Experience working successfully with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills complemented by the ability to take initiative
- Minimum 3 years of professional library (post MLS) experience working in areas of electronic acquisitions and/or collection development, e-resource management
- Knowledge and work experience with academic online resources and services
- Knowledge of the concepts and issues related to the electronic resources lifecycle
- Experience with integrated library systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations, including licensing, with content providers of electronic resources
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other library units
- Demonstrated ability, through examples, to successfully lead or accommodate change
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience or familiarity with assessment of library resources
- Familiarity in working with consortia
- Experience negotiating licenses on behalf of a library consortium.
- Experience managing or implementing an Electronic Resources Management System
- Experience with or understanding of emerging information technologies and applications
- Knowledge of ADA/Accessibility laws and standards in regard to electronic information resources
Salary/Benefits: Faculty rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience; minimum starting salary will be $53,500. Excellent benefits include health plan and paid life insurance; several retirement plans including TIAA; paid holidays; no state or local income tax. Funding is provided for professional travel and development activities.
