We welcome to our team an innovative and collegial librarian to become deeply engaged with the School of Public Health (SPH) and other health-related programs. Our Public Health Librarian provides consultations, research assistance, instruction in information and resource use, has a strong commitment to student learning and success and collaborates closely with the subject librarians serving a variety of GSU colleges. The SPH is one of the fastest growing colleges at Georgia State University, with programs that include the B.S., M.P.H., D.P.H, and Ph.D., as well as dual-degree programs with the College of Law and the College of Arts & Sciences.We welcome a subject librarian who works with students at all levels in learning the information skills needed to succeed in college and career, and who is a partner in faculty research. Identified areas of need among faculty and graduate student researchers include conducting systematic literature reviews; analyzing, organizing, preparing, and managing original research data; and presenting research findings and raw data for publication and reuse. Together we will work to develop a more thorough understanding of federal agency requirements (particularly NIH) regarding data management as well as the broader scholarly communication and curation issues associated with e-science and open data initiatives. The position serves as a member of the library faculty (non-tenure track), holds faculty rank and is expected to participate in service and scholarly activities as outlined in the University Library’s faculty guidelines.

Qualifications:
Required:
- ALA-accredited graduate degree and/or relevant graduate degree in a science or health-related field
- Familiarity with research methods used in public health or health-related research
- Understanding of the rapidly changing role of the academic library and librarian in higher education
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse library users and colleagues
Preferred:
- Experience working in an academic or special library
- Classroom teaching experience
- Grant writing experience

Salary and rank:
$50,000 minimum salary for 12 months. Salary commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. Appointment at faculty rank (Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor), on a contract renewal basis.
