Project Manager - LAC Federal

Location: USA - DC - Washington DC

LAC Federal is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a team of technicians in processing East Asian language materials for a major Federal library in the Washington, DC area. This is a 5 year contract expected to start on July 2. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the flow of collections processing, providing quality control reviews, staff training, reporting, and liaising with federal library personnel. The Manager will ensure that all milestones and deliverables are completed on time and at acceptable quality levels. This is a full time (40 hour a week; Monday to Friday) benefited contract position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Developing workflows and training materials
  • Providing day-to-day oversight and quality control, develop regularly statistical reports, provide training to project staff, and create, update, and edit bibliographic records as needed.
  • Identifying and researching complex bibliographic problems and maintain and update status of missing issues and incomplete items
  • Tracking and managing all workflow including quality assurance, perform pre-binding and post-binding Quality Control (QC)

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master of Library and Information Science (MLS or MLIS) is preferred but not required
  • At least 1 year of prior experience processing Asian language materials (especially Japanese and Korean)
  • Previous project supervisory experience including training and overseeing staff
  • Knowledge of MARC format
  • Ability to prepare statistical reports in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems (Voyager preferred)
  • Thorough knowledge of serials collections, library binding preparation practices
  • Knowledge of library science and library operations, especially binding preparation practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Prior management experience is preferred but not required
