Litigation Support Coordinator - LAC Legal

LAC Legal Staffing is seeking an experienced Litigation Support Coordinator for an exciting opportunity at a prestigious law firm with offices in Palo Alto, California. The firm offers excellent compensation and benefits!Responsibilities:
- Advise attorneys and clients on preferred methods of organizing and automating litigation and serves as a consultant regarding automations needs
- Identify and assist in the implementation of technologies to advance the cause of clients in specific matters and the firm in broader group-wide initiatives
- Engage in the early stages of matters to assess data and information needs and assist in identification of the most cost-effective process and technology solutions and the acquisition and implementation of key technologies
- Advise on technologies and systems related to electronic discovery, evidence management, matter management (micro and macro), docketing and specialized databases and trial presentations
- May also assist with intranets, extranets, knowledge management, eBusiness initiatives and practice and expert systems.
- Prepares budgets, recommendations and project plans for acquiring and implementing solutions
- Meets with practice groups to analyze and determine case automation plans
- Manage relations with outside vendors for document coding, eDiscovery processing, imaging, OCR conversion and custom software development, etc.
- Evaluate vendor proposals, review work performance and approve invoices
- Address automation needs of various litigation groups, surveying the market for new tools, technologies, etc. and makes recommendations to attorneys and practice groups
- Define tech and business requirements and develop or coordinate the development of specialized database programs
- Works with other internal technology groups to resolve technical problems
- Operates as a timekeeper in a timekeeping environment
- Assists in preparing manuals and instruction materials for training personnel on use of litigation tools and provides training when appropriate
- Diagnoses and corrects system and network problems related to litigation tools and serve as technical liaison to vendors
- Manages projects under tight deadlines and under stressful circumstances
- Provides excellent customer service to practice groups, members of the firm, clients, and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, in-person and over the telephone.
- Occasional travel as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant experience
- Management of large document projects is required
- Minimum 2+ year’ advisory experience with legal technologies, preferably in a law firm
- Prior experience as an attorney or paralegal strongly preferred
- Knowledge of litigation process and litigation specific software tools (DISCO, Recommind, Relativity, CaseMap, Introspect, Concordance, Summation and image capture and viewing systems e.g IPro and DocumLex)
- Knowledge of SQL, .net, XML and Concordance CPL preferred
- Proficiency with relational databases (such as MS Access), their use and design is required
- Ability to communicate to non-technical audiences the lifecycle of litigation information and data, determine the feasibility of automation of matters and ability to implement solutions.
- Able to learn new technologies and solutions
- Understanding of various data storage methodologies and effective methods for harvesting information using evidentially defensible methods
- Ability to develop strategies for conversion of harvested data into reviewable forms
- Must understand various review methodologies, including vendor-hosted ASP solutions and methods of effective electronic document production
- Highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities under stressful conditions
