Litigation / EHS Paralegal - LAC Group

Location: USA - CO - Denver

LAC Group is seeking an experienced Paralegal specializing in matters relating to litigation, environmental, health and safety for an opportunity with the legal department of a prestigious corporation located in Denver, CO. This position works closely with attorneys, clients and outside counsel providing paralegal services and administrative support. This is a full-time opportunity offering competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities include:
  • Litigation support, including receipt of service of process; maintaining litigation files; managing the legal hold process; working closely with outside counsel on responding to discovery requests, including coordinating, gathering and organizing company documents; manage responding to subpoenas requesting information from the company and notice of liens filed by subcontractors associated with capital projects; calendaring of deadlines
  • Legal hold/eDiscovery utilizing SourceOne and electronic file transfers to outside counsel
  • Maintain and update quarterly litigation report and significant matters for the Board of Directors
  • Environmental, Health and Safety, and Pipeline Safety, Compliance and Enforcement management including maintenance of files; monitor deadlines; maintenance of Administrative Tracking database; process and submit penalty payments to regulatory agencies; draft and submit settlement documents to regulatory agencies; maintaining a complete file for all administrative proceedings; process supplemental environmental projects and payments
  • Assist attorneys with human resources and internal incident investigations
  • Calendar, email monitoring and additional administrative tasks
  • Special projects and other projects as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate are required
  • 3-5 years paralegal or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in the legal department of a large corporation is highly desirable
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel), Legal Hold Software, Adobe Acrobat and version control software
  • Must have excellent people skills and a positive attitude in order to interface with attorneys, corporate executives, and co-workers; must be willing to take initiative to interact with various company personnel in collecting and retrieving records and documents as part of the discovery process.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and flexibility in handling multiple tasks, often under time constraints
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team in a fast paced office
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and prioritize work in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information
