Knowledge Manager - Murmuration

Every application of this work, as well as shared knowledge and best practices, further improves our collective ability to organize communities and electoral campaigns.

Murmuration offers a fully featured political campaign platform that allows our partners to execute large scale electoral, advocacy and organizing efforts across the United States. The m{insights toolset includes a web platform that sits on top of an aggregated dataset from a wide variety of sources, including publicly available data, consumer data, voter-file data, and membership data furnished by Murmuration’s partners. Partners are also offered sophisticated targeting and outreach tools to help activate key audiences and expand their base of support. Murmuration’s data science team also provides deep analysis on our partners’ work, helping craft experiments and polls, building predictive models and measuring impact.

About the Position
The Knowledge Manager is responsible for supporting Murmuration’s Partner Hub – a centralized system used to facilitate engagement with partner organizations, distribute content, track activities, and more. This work includes overseeing the maintenance of the Partner Hub and organizational website, including:

  • Adding and removing partners/updating partner profiles and managing passwords/log-ins;
  • Adding events, news items, articles, and other content;
  • Enabling engagement through the hub with individual partners;
  • Managing organizational website content;
  • Reviewing website analytics and providing reports to teams for strategic decision making.


The person in this role also oversees and maintains knowledge management and serves as the organization’s librarian. They are expected to think strategically and holistically about Murmuration’s knowledge management tools, processes, and systems, and the way people utilize them.

The Knowledge Manager is a full-time role reporting to the Chief of Staff, working closely with the Chief of Staff and the Internal Affairs Team, as well as the VP of Partnerships and the members of the Partnerships Team.

Key Functions: The Knowledge Manager plays a central role in helping information move across the organization and between the organization and the partners that we work with. They perform the following key functions:

Hub Management: The Knowledge Manager is responsible for defining and managing how the Partner Hub is used by the organization to engage partners, deliver information, and other key functions. This includes facilitating certain activities through the Hub such as password management, content posting, analysis of web analytics, etc. This person supports the Partnership Managers as they work to ensure Partners are maximizing their use of the Hub; additionally, the Knowledge Manager ensures the Hub always features the most current content, curating information from across the organization; and troubleshooting basic technical issues as needed.
Knowledge Management/Sharing: The Knowledge Manager is responsible for promoting knowledge sharing across the organization by strengthening the links between knowledge sharing and the information systems and tools used at Murmuration, and by facilitating seamless exchange of information across systems. They also promote and support the use of collaborative tools to facilitate the sharing of ideas and work among internal teams, as well as ensure the systematization of institutional knowledge.

Keys to Success: The Knowledge Manager is a unique role, operating as both a facilitator and a strategist for how Murmuration can best maximize its internal and external engagement efforts. A successful candidate brings a mix of experience and capabilities to the role, including:

Flexibility and Flow: This role requires a maximum level of flexibility; there are many unknowns and this role exists, in part, to support us in shifting gears effectively as they become known. The expectation is that the Knowledge Manager can pursue projects as directed, as well as surface questions and opportunities to explore further.
Truly Collaborative: Given the cross-functional nature of Murmuration’s work, the Knowledge Manager will only succeed by working closely with all the teams within the organization, and especially the Partnerships and Internal Affairs teams. A successful candidate must be comfortable both leading and operating in a truly collaborative way.
Builder mindset: To be successful, the Knowledge Manager needs to embrace a “builder” mindset – this individual is responsible for getting lots of projects off the ground and then handing them over to be executed by the right long-term owner. This person needs to be able to clearly communicate around needs and expectations to ensure smooth transitioning of responsibilities and be comfortable letting go (successfully!).
Hyper-proactivity: Especially given the critical function the Knowledge Manager plays in supporting knowledge sharing across the organization, they will be the keeper of many details – all of them essential to our success – and it will be incumbent upon the person in this role to maintain a clear and organized view of the full range of considerations and follow through as expected without having to be reminded.

  • Experience managing web platforms, including content management systems, web analytics, and basic administrator functions
  • Experience with knowledge management/sharing – the strategic development and management of information systems, identification and utilization of different tools, and similar
  • Strong problem solving skills as well as the ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively
  • Exceptional team player, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with various internal and external stakeholders to develop analytics strategy and deepen our partnerships


Location, Compensation, and Benefits
This is a full-time, salaried position based onsite in New York City, with a comprehensive benefits package. Salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
