Electronic Resources Librarian - Dartmouth

Location: USA - NH - Hanover

The Dartmouth College Library is seeking an Electronic Resources Librarian. Leads the lifecycle of all electronic resources including licensing, acquisition, access, administration, statistics, and support. This position will implement and administer tools, features, and programs that enhance and improve electronic resource access and usability including the utilization of electronic resource management functions in the library services platform.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage the lifecycle of electronic resources including licensing, acquisition, access, troubleshooting, and assessment through the application of technical skills across multiple platforms - 35%
  • In collaboration with the Discovery Systems Librarian assess and maintain discoverability and reliable access to electronic resource collections in the library discovery ecosystem, including the library management platform, knowledgebases, access and discovery tools, authentication services and user interface, that meet the research and curricular needs of the community - 30%
  • Assess, design, and implement improvements to current workflows to optimize access and discovery of electronic collections. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and other types of documentation as needed. Coordinate the work of a group of Acquisitions Assistants and Specialists, working independently or in a variety of team configurations - 30%
  • Professional engagement: stays current on emerging trends, practices and standards in electronic resource management and emerging technologies. Participate in users’ groups and open-source communities to maintain updated systems knowledge, enhance problem-solving skills, obtain best practices, and facilitate improvements to existing systems and workflows - 5%


Qualifications:
Required

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Three years of experience managing electronic resource life cycles
  • Ability to work creatively and effectively both individually and collaboratively
  • Experience with integrated library systems, bibliographic utilities, technical standards, discovery tools, and other tools for information management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership or project management experience
  • Ability to quickly master new technologies; organized, detail oriented
  • Demonstrates flexibility in a rapidly changing work environment
  • Demonstrates ability to establish priorities, set performance expectations, implement efficient workflows, achieve goals, create documentation, and direct work in a high-production setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment

Preferred

  • Five years of experience working with and managing electronic resources life cycles
  • Experience with the Alma library platform
  • Some experience with Perl, Ruby, Python, or a similar programming language
