Join a nationally recognized Library system that is dedicated to delivering innovative and exciting services to the residents of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. This Leadership position is responsible for effectively managing activities in support of the Library’s Enjoyment Initiative: coordination of readers’ services for all-ages, management of large-scale events and county-wide reading activities, and enhancements to online and in-branch collections advisory; participates in system-wide planning and projects; actively engages supervisors, librarians and front-line staff to deliver programs and services that meet organizational objectives; engages the community and ensures service aligns with local residents’ needs; collaborates with support departments; interacts with and provides direct library services to customers.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a vision for building a community of readers and a strong understanding of how library services and collections can support community members reduce stress through reading, creative and leisure activities, and talking about books;
- Be customer-focused, an excellent communicator and supportive supervisor, have a proven ability to influence, lead and implement change, and participate as a leader in a library system that believes in continual improvement;
- Understand the power of collaboration and having fun, and believe that the library must be the community’s first choice for the discovery and exchange of information and ideas.

- Describe your experience supervising, developing, and evaluating employee performance.
Compensation: Pierce County Library System offers a compensation program which recognizes qualifications and experience relevant to each position. The starting pay is established typically within the hiring range below based upon the experience of the individual hired into the role. Our compensation package also includes annual increases for each additional year of experience and tenure in the role, up to the maximum (current year maximum outlined in pay grade range below). Eligibility for overtime is exclusive to position, which are FLSA status non-exempt.
Full Pay Grade Range: $69,763.20 - $96,574.40 annually
Hiring Range: $69,763.20 - $80,870.40 annually, FLSA exempt, non-union represented
Schedule: Forty (40) hours per week, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Schedule is subject to change
