Acquisitions Archivist - LAC Group
Location: USA - CA - Los Angeles
LAC Group seeks a Acquisitions Archivist for a renowned archive client in the Los Angeles metro area. The position will be responsible for serving as the point person for the acquisition, transportation and metadata information for physical materials acquired from multiple locations. This is a full-time benefitted onsite position that is perfect for an archivist interested in the process of researching and coordinating the acquisitions of original physical materials.RESPONSBILITIES:
- Communicate (email, phone, Zoom, etc.) with principals, staff and facilities to coordinate acquiring assets. Build relationships with offices, property managers, industry vendors and auction houses.
- Track projects with relevant material for the archive including accession logs of incoming assets and alerts for any missing or damaged items.
- Help establish workflows for the collection.
- Assess existing collections for gaps in holdings and locate additional materials to complete collections.
- Work with Archive Director on recommendations, strategy and projections to maximize vault space.
- Ensure accurate inventory counts, cross checking all shipping labels and documents against received items.
- Track and log all assets purchased, received or moved within all properties.
- MLIS from an ALA-accredited university is required.
- At least 4 years of experience in an archive accessioning/processing role including experience communicating with property managers/vendors, knowledge of metadata schemas and collection management systems (ie ArchivesSpace) and film/television industry knowledge.
