Pay and benefits are important to everyone, but keep in mind that the halls of rejected job candidates are filled with people who put too much emphasis on compensation and not enough on the talents and skills they bring to an employer!
That said, when the time is right (like after you have an offer), make sure you thoroughly understand all the benefits available to you, and prioritize them based on what you find most important and relevant, along with their value. For example, matching 401k contributions are often overlooked and underutilized, which is literally saying “no” to free money.
