Listservs The School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Florida sponsors two electronic mailing lists, known as ALIS and ALISJOBS, for announcements and discussions of interest to students and alumni of the USF SLIS. ALIS is an open discussion forum for the students, faculty and staff of the USF School of Library and Information Science. It was established to promote positive exchange and to encourage creative and innovative ideas that will benefit the program and assist its future progress. ALISJOBS lists employment opportunities. http://slis.usf.edu/communication/slis/

Students There are approximately 500 students currently enrolled in the program. This includes full-time and part-time students. For the past few years, an average of 190 students have graduated from the program each year.
Faculty 18 full time faculty and several affiliated faculty.
Distance Education To meet student needs, courses are currently offered at the USF Tampa campus and on the east coast in Broward, Brevard, Dade and Palm Beach counties. In addition, many Internet-based, distance education courses are available.
ALA Accredited Degree: (# of credits) ALA accredited since 1975.
A minimum of 39 credits are required for the Master’s degree program.

PhD A proposal for a PhD program has been submitted and the School is actively pursuing its creation.

School Library Media Certification Anyone seeking teacher certification must contact the Florida Department of Education. Students may have to complete additional education/testing requirements.
