LibGig Announces Winner In BluRay Twitter Promotion

0

LibGig is excited to announce that Emily (Twitter handle: Eviolet) is the winner of our recent Twitter Signup promotion! She is now the proud owner of a brand new Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player.

Emily (We'll call her EViolet from here on) is currently an MLS student in New Jersey. She is looking forward to her future career as a librarian. With hopes to "improve the public's access to government records to enhance transparency", Eviolet is focusing her studies on government reference and emerging technologies. A short Q&A follows after the break.

  • LIBGIG: What inspired you to pursue an MLS?
EViolet: As it is with most MLS students, I had a tremendous love and appreciation of the library at a very young age and that continues on today. I even love the smell of libraries! The mission of organizing untold amounts information into easily accessible systems is mind-blowing!

  • LIBGIG: What do you think the future holds for libraries?
EViolet: The explosive growth of information technologies is fundamentally changing what a library means. Reference will never be the same and librarians will have to figure out new ways to make the library a fixture of the community.

  • LIBGIG: What do you see for yourself in the future?
EViolet: The potential for lifelong learning through emerging technologies is more promising than ever, so I hope to be able to keep up with all the blogs I read and perhaps even make my own into something worth reading. I also look forward to giving back to the library community through research and earnest participation in conferences and dialogues. It's a very exciting time to be a librarian in training!

LibGig couldn't be happier to have such a progressive thinker as our first winner! Good luck to you, EViolet, as you complete your MLS and pursue your goals in library and information science. We hope that the services we provide for you here at www.LibGig.com will aid you in all future endeavors.
