Seattle Public Creates Passport, Runner Publicizes It
To celebrate completion of the 27 new and remodeled branches of the public library, the Seattle Public Library created a "library passport," and marathoner Sam Thompson planned to run to all of them in a PR stunt.
The library passport allows visitors to go to any branch and get stamps unique to the individual library. Thompson planned to get his library passport stamped by all 27 branches.
Thompson, who works for a nonprofit company that makes charity gift cards, is sponsored by The North Face, though the outdoor gear company isn't sponsoring this run.
"Sixty miles is not a terribly long run," said Thompson, who has been running for 15 years. "But it will be grueling on my body. When I heard about the passport program I had the idea that I could do it in a day."
Thompson said he will update his run on Twitter, at http://www.twitter.com/seesamrun.
