Employers Targeting Passive Candidates

There are plenty of people looking for work, with the unemployment rate over 9% and still going up. But what are employers targeting when they are hiring? Would you believe that many are looking to fill positions with people who are already working and may not be actively searching for a new job? Despite getting dozens of resumes for people who are unemployed or have been laid off, they look for the “passive” candidate. They are looking for the best in their industry and many times, these people are already employed. Looking for the perfect candidate can be a more time consuming and costly process than choosing from a pool of ready candidates who have actively applied for a position, but many think it’s worth it.
