MLS students have the option to take courses in the e-government concentration, which focuses on the impact of digital or electronic government. Students can concurrently enroll in e-government and archives, records and information management.

Lifelong Access Concentration: This concentration focuses on the information behavior of individuals as members of a defined group (age, profession etc). MLS students may choose this concentration while earning their degree.

School Library Media Certification Yes, a School Library Media Program is offered to students in the MLS program. Students are required to complete 180 hours of field work in a least 2 schools in at least 2 school districts.

Continuing Ed Yes, Advanced Special Student (AdSS) status is given to those seeking to further their knowledge in a field without earning credit towards a degree.

Internships Students earning their MLS are encouraged to gain professional experience in their area of study by participating in a field study course. 100-140 hours/ semester and a written report are required for credit. Over 200 institutions in the area sponsor internships for ischool students.
