LibGig FAQ

Got a question we haven't anticipated in our FAQ? Ask us now.

How come there are jobs on here that aren't "library" oriented?

The Jobs portion of LibGig is designed to accept and distribute jobs pertaining to information professionals and information workers. Although our core focus is jobs for librarians of all sorts and at all levels, we also accept job postings for jobs involving information - whether it is selling and marketing information products or content, managing information or knowledge, creating organizational tools and technologies (taxonomists, catalogers, editors, indexers, archivists, etc.), or executive level positions for any organization that works with information in the information industry space. Yes this is broad, but we purposefully have a broad scope because we believe that individuals who have or who come from an information background need to have a place to go to find jobs and we want LibGig to be that place.

If I am a recruiter can I post jobs here safely and confidentially?

There is only one answer to that - Yes! Our job posting system is set up so that jobs posted here are widely distributed throughout the virtual world, and you will get great exposure either directly from our loyal users and/or from the wider distribution inherent in the software we use.

Why are some jobs listed as Confidential?

Because some employers wish to remain confidential until such time as you send in your application - or because this is a recruiter job and their client wishes to be confidential.

If I am an employer how can I edit my job posting?

Once you post your position here you will be sent a system email that you need to save. That email enables access to go in and manage your posting or any other information pertaining to the posting. We advise using a folder (Outlook or whichever email you use) - to keep all of the emails in for easy access.

I am posting a job but don't know the zip code off hand?

Don't worry about it. You need only fill out the zip code if you don't have a city or state.

I am posting a work-from-home job that has no location reqs?

That's ok. Just click "Other Location info" and you can substitute City and State for a more general term such as "telecommute," "nationwide," or "tri-state area."

Your "Job Function" pulldown doesn't accurately describe the position?

Just click "Other" -- this option is for our records only and will not be displayed on the ad.

Can I choose more than one Job Category?

You can choose as many as you need.

I am posting a job, but want applicants to apply online on my site and not through email. What do I do?

Simply check the "Via Web Page" button on the Send Resumes option and enter your website info. If you prefer resumes to go to a snail mail address, check the "Other" button and enter the address.

I keep getting an error message saying "Your job description contains an email address in it."

We have set this up for your protection, so that your email address is not displayed publicly. By entering your email address in the Send Resumes option, you will receive applications via email but your address will not be displayed.

Should I make this job available to Google?

Why not. The more applicants, the merrier.

How do I log out of LibGig?

The last option on the main menu is "log out".
