For those interested in the Law Library Field, a Legal Information Management and Analysis program offers a dual J.D. degree and MLS.

Students may also enroll in a dual program between the LIS department and another department or school within the University. This must be done prior to or during the student’s first semester in LIS and must be approved by the Admissions and Academic Standards Committee Chair.

School Library Media Program/Certification A Library Media Specialist program is offered within the MLS. Field experience and a Practicum course are required to earn this certification.

Continuing Ed Offer “special student” status-Professional
Librarians that may want to take courses in the advances studies certificate program are categorized as special students. Up to two classes per semester can be taken as a special student.

Individuals not formally accepted into the MLS or the Advanced Studies Certificate Program, but taking coursework at LIS, may be admitted as Non-Degree Students.

Out-of-state $10,920

Internships Practica and Special Projects studies courses are available-
The Practica course allows students to gain experience through field work.
The Special projects course allows students to focus on a particular project within the Library field.

Additional Programs If no LIS course is available for a particular topic, students may enroll in a directed study course for one to six credits.
